• Prof. Dr. Simone Weikl (OTH Regensburg): “AI for Sustainable Mobility: Leveraging New Data Sources for Understanding Mobility Behavior and Optimizing Transportation Systems“ explores how advanced data sources and machine learning are used to gain mobility insights (e.g., ride-style detection, traffic prediction) for safer and greener transportation.
• Dr. Oana Popescu (University of Potsdam & TU Berlin): “Causal inference for climate data: an example on land-atmosphere feedbacks“ discusses how causal discovery and effect estimation can reveal mechanisms in complex climate phenomena like heatwaves.
• Dr. Alison Merritt (OroraTech): “Data, Science, and AI at OroraTech“ presents how thermal Earth observation data and AI are used for near-real-time wildfire detection and fire spread modeling.
• Prof. Dr. Ute Schmid (University of Bamberg): “Human AI Alignment in Joint Decision Making and Problem Solving“ addresses the need for explainable and human-aligned AI methods to improve collaboration between humans and AI systems.
• Prof. Dr. Barbara Plank (LMU Munich): “Making AI Work for Everyone: NLP in the Era of Large Language Models“ offers a critical and inclusive perspective on the opportunities and limitations of large language models in natural language processing.
