On October 8, 2025, the first AIR Executive Meeting took place at TechBase Regensburg—a biannual gathering for decision-makers and thought leaders who want to help shape the future of AI in the region.
With Philipp Berr (Office for Economic Affairs and Science of the City of Regensburg) serving as moderator, Uwe Pfeil, Cluster Manager at AIR, opened the event with a welcome address in which he emphasized the importance of cross-industry dialogue on AI transformation.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Mathis Broelmann, Commercial Director and Authorized Signatory of Stadtwerk Regensburg GmbH. Stadtwerk Regensburg is currently conducting a systematic analysis of the potential offered by the use of artificial intelligence, although specific challenges naturally arise—particularly with regard to critical infrastructure. Many of the use cases presented are still a long way off, but one thing became clear: the potential and range of applications—from detecting people in danger of drowning to preventing vandalism—are vast.
The expert discussion that followed provided participants with a platform for an in-depth exchange among peers. A key topic was the need to strengthen AI literacy and generate enthusiasm for AI even outside the tech bubble. This is precisely where the innovative learning program “Regensburg AI License,” which had just been launched, comes in.
During the closing networking session, participants were able to strengthen their connections and discuss potential collaborations.
The next AIR Executive Meeting will take place in March 2026. The event is intended to establish itself as a permanent platform for executives, combining in-depth technical expertise with cross-industry perspectives—and thereby helping to raise Regensburg’s profile as a hub for innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.
