AI can help increase productivity and efficiency in public administration, in administrative office tasks, and even in highly specialized development areas, thereby reducing the workload on employees.
AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg therefore launched the “AI in Office & Administration” event series in early 2024, which is designed to promote the exchange of knowledge on these topics and provide opportunities for networking.
With different thematic focuses for each webinar, “AI in Office & Administration” is aimed at both businesses and public administration. Topics include the use of ChatGPT and similar tools, prompt engineering, implementation of the AI Act, AI and sustainability, as well as practical AI examples and strategies in the public sector, such as AI chatbots or in-house GPT systems.

The goal of this conference is to showcase the exciting work that is conducted by women in the field of data science. Accomplished specialists from academia and industry give talks on relevant topics. The event is a great opportunity to exchange ideas and inspire each other.
The event evolved from the AIR network and is organized by a team of volunteers from the Regensburg area since 2021. Just like the speakers, the team consists of data scientists working in academia and industry.
Over the last years, the WiDS Regensburg featured a wide range of topics from causality, ethics, large language models, explainability to applications in robotics, healthcare and real estate. In addition to the keynotes and technical talks, further highlights from a wide range of topics can be presented in a poster session.

The causal inference meetings serve as a platform for collaboration and discussion since 2021, focussing on causal data analysis in academia and industry. Using causal techniques, the aim is to develop intelligent strategies for data analysis that surpass the correlation-based approach of classical statistics, in order to distill robust causal information from our data.
Meetings are planned every 3 weeks for a virtual session of 1 hour, according to our meeting schedule. The meetings feature talks from group members, discussion about current challenges in daily work and the sharing of useful causality resources.

The “Embedded AI in Manufacturing” working group links Industry 4.0 topics with practical AI integration at the machine and control levels. Embedded AI processes data directly within machines and systems, reduces latency, and unlocks potential for real-time efficiency, predictive maintenance, and quality assurance. In regular virtual and in-person meetings, cluster members share experiences, identify use cases, discuss standards, and initiate joint projects to advance the application of AI in industrial production.

The Quantum Computing Working Group brings together companies, research institutions, and public sector stakeholders in the region to explore the potential, application areas, and strategic opportunities of quantum computing. Quantum computing opens up new possibilities in optimization, simulation, and security—particularly for complex logistical and production-related problems. The group promotes practical exchange, identifies realistic application scenarios, and supports the development of knowledge, skills, and collaborations to equip cluster members with the necessary capabilities for this future technology at an early stage and to prepare for joint projects.

AIR.CON, Regensburg’s first application-oriented AI conference, made its debut on October 9, 2024, at TechBase Regensburg and drew an enthusiastic crowd of around 250 participants. The event focused on practical insights into current developments in artificial intelligence, presented by experts from regional industry, research, and business. The four concurrent expert forums covered a broad spectrum—from automotive and industry to construction and startups, all the way to art and culture—and offered valuable insights into the targeted use of AI in a wide variety of fields. The program was complemented by a panel discussion as well as a variety of networking and matchmaking opportunities. Due to its great success, AIR.CON is set to take place every two years going forward.

The AIR Executive Meeting is the cross-industry innovation network for executives in the Regensburg region and is exclusively for AIR members. On March 11, 2026, the event will once again take place at TechBase Regensburg, continuing the successful series that has established itself as a biannual gathering for decision-makers.
The focus will be on strategic discussions about AI transformation, inspiring insights, and dialogue among peers. The previous event already demonstrated how valuable this setting is for executives to jointly discuss AI strategies, use cases, and innovation potential, and to develop new perspectives.
In addition, the meeting provides opportunities for in-depth networking and fosters collaborations that further strengthen Regensburg’s position as a leading hub for innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.
