AI x Design Meetup Regensburg Vol.2

04/16/2025

The story continues at Bayernwerk—following an initiative by intive

On April 10, 2025, the AI x Design Meetup Regensburg held its second event—this time at Bayernwerk. About 80 guests accepted the invitation from the host, as well as from intive and the AIR Cluster, to once again explore the connection between artificial intelligence and human-centered design from various perspectives.

The evening featured a varied program with practical insights and lively discussion. Following a warm welcome and an overview of the topic by Dr. Falk Kalus, Head of Digital Technologies and Solutions, Julia Waldmüller (Bayernwerk) kicked off the event. In her presentation, “Agentic AI – The Potential of AI Agents,” she combined an introduction to this highly topical subject with concrete insights and lessons learned from Bayernwerk’s journey toward intelligent process automation and the implementation of its first AI agent.

This was followed by a dialogue-based presentation by Julia Oberndörfer and Felix Rothmund (intive), who, under the title “The Methodical Path to AI Application. A Dialogue,” presented a methodical approach to moving from an idea to an AI application. A key point: Involving future users early on—to create real added value and avoid the typical pitfalls that cause many AI projects to fail.

The presentations were rounded out by Fabian Engl (OTH Regensburg, Laboratory for Safe and Secure Systems), who stepped in at the last minute for the originally announced speaker, Alberto Longo. In his presentation, “Data-Driven UUX Analysis: Combining Eye-Tracking and AI,” the surprise guest used research findings to demonstrate how AI and eye-tracking can be combined to make the usability and user experience of digital products measurable.

In addition to the presentations, a meetup wouldn't be complete without discussion, plenty of exciting—and sometimes critical—questions, and networking.

Did you miss the event, or were you just as excited as we were? If so, you can already look forward to the next installment—Vol. 3 is already in the works!
