The AIR (Artificial Intelligence Regensburg) cluster has been awarded the Bronze Label by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI). The certification recognizes the successful development efforts and structural excellence of the young AI cluster, which is based at TechBase Regensburg. TechBase Regensburg GmbH serves as the management organization for the AIR cluster.
With the Bronze Label, the ECEI confirms that the cluster meets fundamental quality criteria and has successfully positioned itself as a regional innovation network. For Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of TechBase Regensburg GmbH, the award is “an important milestone that shows that AIR’s intensive networking efforts and strategic focus are paying off.”
AIR – Platform for Applied AI Innovation
The AIR Cluster connects stakeholders from business, academia, and the public sector with the goal of advancing the use of artificial intelligence in companies. Since its founding in 2020, AIR has evolved into a central platform for innovation, knowledge transfer, and collaborative projects in the field of AI.
“For us, the Bronze Label is both a validation and an incentive,” emphasizes Cluster Manager Uwe Pfeil. “We want to continue improving the quality of our offerings.”
Next Steps: Professionalization and Growth
With this certification, AIR is entering a new phase of development. Plans include expanding the service portfolio, introducing new event formats, and stepping up activities in the areas of grant consulting and project development. The goal is to establish the cluster as the leading network of expertise for applied AI in the Eastern Bavaria region over the long term.
The Bronze Label is awarded as part of the European Commission’s “European Cluster Excellence Program.” The program evaluates cluster organizations across Europe according to uniform criteria for the quality of their management processes.
