AIR Regensburg Rückblick (AIR)

The AI-FuckUp-Edition

10/01/2026

AI x Design Meetup Vol. 5

On September 25, 2026, the fifth AI x Design Meetup took place as part of Regensburg’s AI Day. The event was organized by AIR Artificial Intelligence Regensburg, the Regensburg Creative Agency, and intive, and, as a special edition, brought together creatives and tech enthusiasts at the Degginger.

What made this edition special: the focus was on what’s annoying about AI. Four panelists from various fields shared their views on which aspects of artificial intelligence regularly drive them up the wall, and together they categorized the audience’s contributions: AI x Design co-organizer Felix Rothmund, head of the AI Hub at intive, led the discussion alongside information designer and media artist Michaela Lautenschlager (uns:r Studio), UX designer and DJ Jan Stricker (ergosign), and researcher and head of the bidt research division on Economy and Labor, PD Dr. Angela Graf. The evening was shaped by “FuckUp” submissions from the audience via an online tool and lively in-person participation from those present. The discussion centered particularly on the well-known and widely perceived problem of “workslops”—that is, AI-generated content such as texts or graphics that may look impressive at first glance but lack substance, thereby hindering collaboration with others. Both panelists and attendees felt the associated losses in efficiency and quality in their day-to-day work and also expressed frustration with the rampant, monotonous, and boring AI content that is seen everywhere, both professionally and personally.

One thing is certain: the use of AI by employers, employees, and the self-employed requires a high degree of self-reflection, tolerance for mistakes, and ongoing development of one’s own skills—such as curation as a design skill.

As is customary at the AI x Design Meetups, the guests wrapped up the evening with lively conversation over pinsa and music.

The next AI x Design Meetup, Vol. 6, will take place in 2027.
